Midnight Breeze

Happy Tuesday ! School is definitely in full swing. In my absence from my blog I have busy with school work, obtaining a new retail job and attending multiple networking events. Today post it about beauty lighting and the night.

I recently found a new appreciation for the beauty of night. As a child I had a fear of being in the dark. I  always thought something was out there to get me and take me away. Now as a adult I come to realize that everything that I thought was scary and abstract is not all bad. One being the night and it's mysterious darkness. I shot this photo-shoot when the sun was setting and. My location, on MC beautiful campus, I found a great spot where the walk way had column lighting and a quaint water foundation. With lost of natural light I decided to use the lighting features on the walk way to shot my photos. They came out AMAZING! Ah you have to love the art of capturing candid shots and working with what you have. You never know how things will turn out!

In this outfit post, I focus a lot on the navy maxi skirt, hence the "mysterious darkness". Maxi shirts are very versatile and are a must have staple item every lady needs in her wardrobe. From a white t-shirt tucked in with sandals and minimal jewelry to a burnt orange blouse with a cognac skinny belt to define your waist and cognac heels or boots; you have put together an effortless but chic outfit that can be transform from day to night.Another feature I love about this skirt how light and airy it is. It is great for layering with  pattern tights or a faux leather jacket and a great knit scarf. I plan on purchasing more maxi skirts for the fall/winter so I can step out of my comfort-zone with pattern tights !! This should be interesting.

I hope you enjoyed this posted as much as I have. Look forward to tomorrow posted where I will discuss my experience meeting Lauren Conrad's assistant Amanda Schardt who is a Meredith College Alumni !

Have a great day !

Lemon Drop

Happy Thursday ! Today's post is probably one of my favorite outfit of the day (#ootd) post I've done in a long time. From the photo-shoot locations to who took my pictures. I truly enjoyed this one and I hope you do too :)

This is probably the most fun I had all summer. My friend and I decided to do a spontaneous photo-shoot on the boardwalk in our town and we had so much fun. We were outside for hours. First I did a photo-shoot of him and his pictures came out amazing. He WERK the camera. Fierce and fabulous ! For my photo-shoot I think I found my old "loving the camera" self again. I was "giving face" and just being myself.

As a self-proclaim  photographer (more freelance) I learn that some of the most beautiful shoots are when the subject are being themselves. Most of the pictures above are when I was just playing around and talk. I have to say that some of these pictures are great!

The Makings of a Better Me: First Love

Happy Sunday everyone ! I love Sunday's; they are always relaxed and serene. Today's posted however is very special because I will be talking about my first love :)

Years ago a fell head over heels in love with this boy that went to my church. I thought he was so cute and really nice. Months went by and he finally, FINALLY asked me to be his girlfriend. I was so excited since this was my first serious relationship. Now keep in mind I was in the 7th or 8th grade when this happen & he was in either 9th or 10th grade. So I guess you can say I like older guys haha ! But not too old. We loved to go to the movies and hang our since we lived so far away from each other. So I guess you can say I was in a long distance relationship.

However the downside of being so in love with each other we did not know what came with being in love, which I feel many people do not today. Time, patience, emotions, and most importantly your heart is place on a roller coaster of emotions, which I was not expecting at such a young age. Since we were so young we would easily joke around with each other but then I would end up taking it serious (which I still do today, I'm trying to work on it), end up mad at him, and not talk to him.  On his part he would usually blow it off as though it was not important and not being considered of  my feelings and I eventually developed trust issues. Now-a-days EVERYONE has trust issues for similar reasons or because they are what I called "loose as a goose". Time pasted and our relationship became unstable and eventually we called it quits. For a long time I had a lot of hate for him because of my feelings were hurt, I felt as though I was being taken advantage of and felt unwanted. 4 years went by and we did not talk.

However, one day I had a change of heart. I realized that having this hate in a heart for a person was not healthy. So one day I called him for the first time in 4 years and we both expressed how we felt about the break-up. I can honestly say that I felt like a weigh was being lifted off of my shoulders for finally telling him how I felt all these years. The best part of this was I finally got an apology from him for treating me the way he did. I finally felt like I could move on with my life and I was happy.

Fast forward to a year today I can say we get along perfectly fine. I do not hate him like I did in the past & THIS PAST WEEKEND we hung out for the 1st time in years and we had a blast. It was just like old times and we still have that special spark for each other :)

So thank you for being my first love and putting me through the ring of fire. You have made me a stronger woman and I have learned so much from our experience. It is truly a blessing to see how much we have grown as individuals to become a better person. Thank you once again and I love you <3

Have a great Sunday everyone.

I am still here + UPDATES

Happy Thursday everyone ! I know it has been a while since I posted anything here on The F.L.A.S.H.; however I am back & ready to provide you with fun, fresh, and exciting OOTD (outfit of the day)  post, Inspiration Sunday post & many more. To update ya'll on what has been going on since I was gone I will show you through pictures. Enjoy :)

While I was gone, I was able to be a counselor for my college Summer Symposium program. I participated in Summer Symposium the summer of my freshman year of college. It was a great experience to start off my freshman year of college. I got to meet some wonderful girls that I call my friends. However this time around I was able to make an impact of  MC17 freshman class through giving them advice about the college, courses, and how to balance it all ! It brings joy to me to see how the girls open up and express their thoughts and concerns about college.

At the beginning of the week I tried LUSH's Mask of Magnanimity. This is the BEST facial cleanser I have ever used. I have only used this product twice but I love how well this cleans my face.On Saturday I attend a  baby shower for one of my co-workers. She is having a little girl name Brielle. Her theme was Minnie Mouse and I loved her napkins that she had lol (picture located above). I had a blast & I know she did too.

Last but not least I ended my weekend celebrating Father's Day with my daddy! I will say I AM A DADDY'S GIRL, but then again what girl isn't ? For Father's Day I bought my dad the new Flex 2013 Run sneakers. My dad was in dying need of some new, MODERN, "hip" shoes and that's what I got him ! He was more than happy & was so fascinated by how light they were, he kept telling me "They feel like I'm not wearing any shoes". Lol I am glad I was able to put a smile & prep in his step on Father's Day.

**One more announcement. I WILL BE ATTENDING MY FIRST BLOGGER EVENT THIS EVENING !!!!!!! I am SUPER EXCITED :D. Pictures will be in tomorrow's blog.

Have a wonderful day :)

Sneaker Head & Curls

Let's face it. What girl doesn't love shoes ?  From strappy heels to classy flats, shoes can either make or break your outfit and even be your focal point. In today's post it is all about my Nike Dunk High sneakers !

I love this necklace from Forever 21.

Last night I straighten my hair & pin-curled it. I think it is safe to say that it came out amazing <3.

Curls !!!

Necklace: Forever 21 / White T-shit: Forever 21 / Light- washed Jean vest: JCPenney's ( I got this when I was in the 8th grade & I can still fit it!) /  Black knitted leggings: Christmas present / Nike High Dunks: Footlocker / Sunnies: Wet Seal / Handbag: Aldo.

These shoes are some of the most comfortable sneakers I have ever own. I love the color combination with the turquoise tongue and black and wolf grey trimming. The turquoise really makes the shoes POP ! Since I have fairly large feet (size 10 to be exact) these are originally men shoes but I got these babies in a size 9.

I have actually had these Nike Dunks for 2 years but have not worn them that often because they are a little difficult to style them. If you have any suggest on how I could pair the Dunks let me know in the comment section.  I have got so many comments on them that one of my friends have the same pair, TWINS ! haha.

Have a wonderful day
