Fashion Report: Internship at Elie Saab

Fashion Report : Working for Rick Owens

During my study abroad trip my creative juices have been flowing with ideas. Because of this I decide to create a new segment called Fashion Report, where I will discuss trends, tips, and my journey into the fashion industry.

The first Fashion Report is about having the opportunity to work (intern) for designer Rick Owens.  Here are some behind the scenes photos of the 2015 Spring/Summer Show.

As I was approaching the Palais de Charillot I was filled with excitement as I wondered what my day will be like as a dresser for Rick Owens. In the past year or two I have worked as an dresser for a charity fashion show and an senior fashion show at my college. So note that having experience in the fashion industry is critical if you want to make it in.

Once I set foot into the venue I was all surreal! From the runway to the models and all of the production it was just so amazing to see it all come to life. Everyone was in an all gruge look so black was the main color for his collection. But for the first time ever Rick Owens featured color in this collection which range from pastel pinks to army green. I also had the pleasure to dress a model by the name of Michael who was awesome. He was so nice and helpful when it came to the garments because some where difficult to put on especially since Michael and some of the other models was covered in body paint. We even took a selfie together as shown above.

Although it was only for one day it was something I would never forget. The people that I met to the things that I saw it has truly taught me that hard work and creativity can establish a masterpiece. Everyday thus far I am understanding the fashion industry more and more and I contiously fall in love with it. I can't wait for what's in the future !

I hope you are having a great 4th of July

Outfit details

Crop top: local boutique                       Skirt: Forever 21                                  Shoes: Aldo

Like a promised in yesterday's posted (which accidentally got deleted by the way, I'm sorry !) I was going to introduce a new style that I  wanted to try out: CROP TOP. Crop tops made its first debut in the 40's and 50's as a conservative piece that would be paired with high waisted bottoms, similar to what we do now. However, it did not really take over the fashion scene until the 70's when the ironic Madonna and my favorite movie, Clueless, popularized the cutoff version. Once again the crop top has been able to resurface itself into a new generation to love.

I was able to get my hands on this amazing piece at Che Bella, a local boutique in my town.  In my search of finding new things for my wardrobe I immediately knew I had to have this.  The interesting thing about this piece was it came with a matching skater skirt!(I will insert a picture below). Matching suits is also a big trend that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe because creates daring and versatile pieces. Although I did not pick up the skirt it has been on my mind and I might have to go back and get it.

For today's outfit, I paired this crop top with a light blue peplum skirt that I got from Forever 21 about a year ago.(I also have this skirt in black which I did an ootd  in February.) Both pieces make a statement because of its bold and fresh colors which are perfect for spring and summer. Because I wanted the outfit to be the focal point I decided to paired my cream Gweasn heels from Aldo to top off the look and simply jewelry.

Thank you so much for reading.
I hope you are having a fabulous day !
